Daniel C. Wolters, an associate with Cavitch, focuses primarily on commercial transactions with an emphasis on bankruptcy, creditors' rights, and secured transactions. He has represented creditors in a variety of Chapter 7, 11 and 13 bankruptcy proceedings — including the representation of senior secured creditors in Chapter 11 reorganizations/liquidations, trade creditors in the defense of preferential adversary proceedings, obtaining relief from the automatic stay for secured creditors, as well as the prosecution of non-dischargeability actions. Dan has also represented creditors in commercial foreclosure actions and successfully litigated commercial contract disputes, both in state court and arbitration proceedings.
Dan is admitted to the Ohio bar and is also licensed to practice law before the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Ohio as well as the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. He is a member of the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association Bankruptcy and Commercial Law Section.
Dan received his Bachelor of Arts degree (cum laude) from the University of Notre Dame in 1997. He received a Master of Social Work from the University of Michigan School of Social Work in 1998. In 2003, he graduated cum laude with a Juris Doctor degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Law. During law school, Dan served as an extern for the Honorable Solomon Oliver, Jr. in the U.S. District Court, Northern District of Ohio. He also provided legal services to indigent clients in the Milton A. Kramer Criminal Justice Law Clinic.
