Jeffrey W. Gallup focuses his practice primarily on real estate, business and general corporate law.
He advises privately-held companies and their owners in various areas of the law, including the purchase and sale of companies and various assets, the formation of new entities, the sale, acquisition, financing, lease and development of commercial and residential real estate, corporate governance matters and shareholder issues.
Jeff's experience includes negotiating and drafting documents involving buy-sell and other shareholder rights issues, close corporation governance, limited liability company operating issues, commercial leases, and asset and real estate purchases.
Jeff has also litigated various disputes involving real estate and business matters, including title insurance issues. He successfully argued Don Pre Development Corp. v. Jacobs before the Eighth District Court of Appeals, Cuyahoga County (No. 89379, Slip Copy, 2007-Ohio-6634).
Jeff received his Juris Doctor degree (cum laude) from Case Western Reserve University School of Law in 2003. While he was in law school, he received CALI Excellence for the Future Awards in the Lawyering Process and Estate Planning & Taxation. Jeff was selected as an Ohio Rising Star, an honor for outstanding young lawyers in the state, for 2009 and 2010.
Prior to entering law school, Jeff practiced as a physical therapist for several years. After receiving a Master of Science degree in physical therapy (1995) and a Bachelor of Science degree in health sciences (1994) from Boston University, he worked for several hospitals and healthcare facilities.
Jeff joined Cavitch in mid-2003 as a law clerk and became an associate after he was admitted to the Ohio bar in November 2003.
Jeff is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association, as well as the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association, where he is involved in its Real Estate Law, Young Lawyers and Corporate & Business Law sections. He is also a member of The Mayfield Sand Ridge Club.
A native of Bradford, Pennsylvania, Jeff currently resides with his family in Pepper Pike, Ohio.
