Jennifer Himmelein joined Cavitch in July 2004 as a litigation paralegal and in August of 2009 as an associate attorney.
Jennifer focuses her practice on domestic relations/family law and general civil litigation. In the family law practice area, Jennifer has handled cases involving divorce, dissolution, child custody and visitation, parental alienation, post-decree modifications and disputes, juvenile court issues, and prenuptial agreements. In the general civil litigation area, Jennifer has acted as defense counsel for court-appointed receivers and has handled title insurance defense, foreclosure actions, business disputes, personal injury, construction and collection matters, including bank attachments and wage garnishments.
Jennifer received her Juris Doctor degree from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law, Cleveland State University in 2009. In 2004, she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Paralegal Studies and Criminal Justice from Kent State University. During law school, Jennifer worked full time as a paralegal with Cavitch, was an associate and managing editor of the Cleveland-Marshall Journal of Law and Health, and received numerous academic awards.
Jennifer is licensed to practice in the State of Ohio and Northern District of Ohio. Jennifer is a co-editor for Matthew Bender & Co.'s Ohio Transaction Guide and has an article published in the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Journal.
Jennifer is a member of the Cleveland Metropolitan, Ohio State, Lake County and Akron Bar Associations. Jennifer is a native of San Diego, California.
Jennifer actively participates in many pro bono and community activities including the Cleveland-Marshal Alumni Association Mentor Program, Akron Bar Association National Pro Bono Week Legal Advice Clinic, Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association 3Rs Program, Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association Justice for All Committee, and Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association Pro Se Divorce Clinics.
