Stephen E. Pigott’s diverse business practice focuses on general corporate and business matters, succession planning, partnerships and limited liability company law, and issues related to nonprofit organizations.
Steve also has extensive experience with corporate and personal tax law. In addition to assisting clients with tax planning, he has years of experience with tax controversy and has represented many clients under audit, at Internal Revenue Service appeals, and in Tax Court.
Steve often writes and speaks on a variety of business and tax topics. He has been co-editor of Matthew Bender & Co.'s publications, Ohio Transaction Guide and Current Legal Forms since 1984. He also co-edited Ohio State Taxation, Matthew Bender & Co. and was a contributing author to Bender's Federal Tax Service.
Steve is currently the president and chairman of the board of the Cleveland Police Athletic League. He is past president and has served for many years on the board of directors of The Kidney Foundation of Ohio. Steve is also a member of the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association.
In 1980, Steve was admitted to the bar of Ohio. The following year, he was admitted to the U.S. District Court, Northern District of Ohio and the U.S. Tax Court in 1985.
He attained his Juris Doctor degree from The Ohio State University in 1980. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Pennsylvania State University in 1977.
