Douglas A. DiPalma, a shareholder with Cavitch since 1987, focuses his practice in the areas of commercial litigation and employment law with trial experience in actions for breach of contract, including employment, construction and insurance contracts, actions involving covenants not to compete, various business torts, discrimination claims, and claims brought under the Fair Labor Standards Act.
Doug is a frequent speaker at seminars sponsored by professional and bar associations, as well as private firms. He has also been an adjunct professor at Kent State University from 2000 to 2009, where he taught courses on contract law and federal practice. Doug is also the editor of Volume 8 of Ohio Transaction Guide, Matthew Bender & Co., and a contributor to the chapters on, among others, Contracts, Sales, Employment Law, and Employment Contracts. He is also an author of an Expert Commentary published by Lexis/Nexis on the reporting requirements under Ohio’s minimum wage law.
Doug is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association, and is a member of the Order of the Coif, an honor society for lawyers who graduate in the top 10 percent of their class.
Doug attained his Juris Doctor degree from Case Western Reserve University in 1980. He attended the University of Notre Dame, graduating cum laude in 1977 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Doug was admitted to the bar in the State of Illinois in 1980 and practiced with the law firm of Isham, Lincoln & Beale in Chicago until 1985. In 1985, Doug became a member of the Ohio bar and joined Cavitch that year. Doug’s non-professional activities include membership on The Salvation Army’s advisory board for its Harbor Light Complex, and on its property committee for Northeast Ohio.
